I can't answer the second question, but as for the first one ... navigate as follows: Start, Programs, Applications, Accessories and then right-click on Calculator. Hold down the mouse button and drag to wherever a preferred location for quick access (desktop, taskbar, start button etc.). Release the mouse button and click on Copy Here and you will have a shortcut to the calculator.
I suppose the reason that I do not have Start/Programs/Accessories/Calculator is because I defeated some of the Microsoft programs from my Windows 98 CD.
Isn't there a way to access the computer's internal DOS calculator without reloading the Microsoft Windows 98 CD calculator?
I'm not aware of any Microsoft DOS calculator, but if you search for one ("DOS calculator") on the internet, they're are some freeware ones available. Please clarify. Perhaps you just deleted the shortcut to the Windows calculator? Do you have the calc.exe in your Windows folder (directory)? If so you only need to create a shortcut to it or from the Start Menu (read button), click Run and type "calc" without the quotes and click on the OK button or press the enter key. If you do not have the calc.exe file, one solution is to obtain a copy file from someone you know. If need be, I could send it to you as an attachment in an email.

start-run-calc brings up the windows calculator, so if it's been uninstalled it won't work. I would simply reinstall the windows calculator and set a keyboard shortcut to open it.
