Windows complete pc backup problem

Here's my problem:  I bought my laptop with Vista Home Premium, then I upgraded to Vista Ultimate using the Windows Anytime Upgrade Disk (after shelling out $159 for a license key - BIG mistake!!!).  I wanted Vista Ultimate so I could use the "Windows Complete PC Backup" feature which is supposed to make a complete image of the system disk.  I tried to do this and everything seemed OK ... I used an external USB HDD for the backup and Vista took just 20 minutes to backup my 43 gigs of files to the backup drive.  When I went to look in the "WindowsImageBackup" folder on the USB drive it said the folder was empty!!!  But when I looked at the amount of free space remaining on the drive it was approx. 20 gigs less than before I did the backup!  Why do I not see anything when I look in the WindowsImageBackup folder???   Any help is much appreciated!

It could be a hidden file, most likely is.

You can go to folder options and unhide files there.

Your Welcome CarlC, Yes they were the originals.
Some of their old talkies are better than most of the modern day high budget films.

Thank you, Mombodog ... your L & H signature is great ... they were truly the best of the old time silent comedians!

Off topic ... BUT ... I think the funniest film I have ever seen in my 67+ years on this planet is "Big Business" where they are Christmas tree salesmen ... I literally almost had a stroke I was laughing so hard!

Laughing ... and also crying ... I first saw it about 35 years ago & that was my reaction. I think it was made in the 1920's, but alas nothing has changed about human nature ... sic transit gloria mundi !    ENJOY their genius!!!

I would be surprised if the backup program included in Vista made an "image" of the partition.  Copy all files and folders, yes, but image??????

    Hi jimwills & All
Vista Ultimate & Business does make a complete image of your c:\ drive and you can use it to put the PC back to the way it was before you had problem{s]
I have used it many times.
It is called complete PC backup , a little known fact .
    See Yea
