WindowXP but no drivers...

Hi all,

I loaded windowXP to Latitude D800. I am missing base system device, video controller (VGA compatible), Ethernet controller and PCI modem.

I downloaded and installed "notebook software and chipset" as recommended in the forum but this did not solve any problem. Does any know what other driver(s) I need in order to get connected through Ethernet or wireless? Oh by the way, I downloaded wireless driver also but not working.

Not sure why dell does not have drivers CD to reduce all these headaches.

Dell does in fact have drivers CD's for their systems. It says "Dell Resource CD - Drivers, Utilities and Diagnostics".

As to the drivers you need, just go to support.dell.com and download the following :

    Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller
    ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R107518.EXE

Texas Instruments PCI 7510/4510 Cardbus Controller with SmartCard
    ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/chipset/R111550.EXE

Unfortunately your video driver is an issue you'll need to address as there are several cards for this system. Regarding your WiFi, try plugging it in to the A/C adter and see if it will connect. Dell had some silly system management utlities that disabled WiFi when the system was on battery.

    Thanks Artisan,

How can get the Dell CD Drivers, Utilities and Diagnostics? I searched for it online but couldn't get it.

I was downloading wrong drivers. I now have three drivers left to resolve: PCI modem, Video controller and wi-fi. I think connecting to Internet through Ethernet may download microsoft updates to resolve them.

    Thanks
