Running Windows 7 off on 5 year-young XPS Minitower with excellent specs.
what do I need to do to resolve today?
2. *comment: never received any alerts before RE: SMART. Does that suggest suddenly component failure?)
1. Replace failing SSD.
2. Yeah, that's how it is ... components eventually fail.
If you find that there is: - a firmware update for the SSD - it still formats - Crystal Disk-Info or Passmark SMART says it's OK, now
... you can try it again after fdisk and formatting. I suggest you Over-Provision it this time.
However, I would still move it to a lesser or unimportant role and watch it closely. First sign of trouble-again, RMA it or trash-can it.
