I have just replaced the 16GB memory in my XPS 8940 with 64GB of T-Force Dark Z (1.35v) DDR4 and like many others before me I have gone from a reported memory clock speed of 2.933GHz to 2.4GHz (Yeah! I didn't read the other support threads on this issue before handing over my cash!)

Despite the difference in 'actual' clock speed in HWMonitor64 I seem to be seeing similar speed test results in Novabench between the original Dell mem and my 3rd party mem. If this is correct then I will be happy!

Novabench speed results:

- Original: 2x8GB Dell memory runs at 25978 MB/S
- New: T-Force 2x32GB memory runs at 26056 MB/S
(Note: The speed difference is within the noise margin of successive tests)

- Does this mean I am seeing a similar performance or am I missing something? (eg using wrong tool for the job)
- What is going on? Why is the T-Force memory the same/slightly faster despite registering a slower clock?
- The new memory is 1.35V rather than Dell 1.2V is this going to damage my system in the long run?
- Am I likely to see stability issues with the new memory? (I haven't yet)
- I used Novabench to get those results. Is there a better free test program that I should be using to test the memory performance? (Novabench seems to be quite, ahem, polarising on forums)
- Has anyone found a way to get third party memory > 1.2v running at 2933MHz?

Any advice/thoughts on this will be most welcome. Many thanks.

Note: If the 3rd party memory really is performing as well as the Dell memory despite its clock speed then that is pretty important as the Dell modules cost more than twice as much some 3rd party ones and as yet I haven't been able to find the same memory modules that were originally in my computer on the Dell Australia website!
