I'll try again. PLEASE any clarification on Dell's advertised screen specs
Screen quality is a very important consideration for my laptop purchase.
I'm interested in purchasing the Precision 5530 since it is within my budget on sale. The XPS 15 is not.
It is claimed by dell, repeatedly, via chat, that the XPS 15 and Precision 5530 share the same 1080p screen. It is regularly claimed, in fact, that they are the exact same machine except for CPU/GPU options, and maybe the fingerprint reader (for some odd reason lacking on the 5530 "business class" version of the lineup.)
It is impossible to find any forum, review, or other information concerning almost anything about the Precision 5530, and certainly nothing about the base level 1080 screen.
Luckily, all reviews of XPS 15, and all chat agents at Dell, assure me that they are the same screen. So I can rely on the review comments and scores of the XPS 15 to make a decision on the 5530 1080p before purchasing.
Not so fast......

Having NO IDEA what that really means as far as the 5530 goes I go to Dell chat again.
..."gee, perhaps it is a different screen. no, i cannot tell you anything else about it. no i cannot tell you what 72% standard that refers to. no i cannot escalate this to a tech unless you have a serial number of the product you own. i'm very sorry but, no, i cannot tell you if it is even an IPS or TN screen. "

JFC this is discouraging. Is it really this hard to wrench information out of this company?

Those are some fairly technical questions, so I suggest you download and examine the PDF manuals. The specs are usually in one of them.
I can also tell you that the teams that design, beta-test, and release the new Precision laptops take their work very seriously. Well, we all do, but a Precision laptop is the top. Just so you know, I think this is pretty much the order of laptop awesome-ness ...

PrecisionBut there are some exceptions to the above. It really depends on your use-case/work-flow/apps, how much you actually travel with it, and how durable you want it to be.

Without the exact model of the XPS it is hard to give any information on it???

Having owned both a 7590 and Precision 5530 and having replaced the FHD screen in the 5530 with a UHD screen out of a 9560... they use the same panel on a generation by generation level. That is, a 9570 and 5530 have the same screens. With the exception of the graphics processor and the availability of a Xeon processor on the Precision, they are identical machines.
How is it that you're getting a Precision cheaper? They're quite a bit pricier usually. If you have the option, definitely go Precision over XPS though. Different world of support.4721

To assist Precision Laptops customers, I added this sticky to the top of the XPS Laptops Forum board, "Where is the Precision Laptops Forum board?". Please start a new thread there to discuss Precision Laptops with other Precision owner's.
The Precision 5530 and XPS 15 9570 are "sister" systems that share two LCD panels shown in green below. The XPS 15 7590 does not have a "sister" Precision.
