XPS 15 screen doesn't turn on when waking from sleep.
I went through a full (level 1) support call for this and thought it was fixed (by uninstalling and reinstalling the nvidia drivers), but that doesn't appear to be the actual solution because today the problem is back.
The computer wakes, I know this because the support person was able to see my screen using the remote support app, even though I couldn't see my screen. But the screen stays black. The keyboard glows, the screen is black.
No idea why the problem stopped happening yesterday, maybe something to do with plugging the laptop in at a certain point? That's about when the change happened, but I don't remember the full context. (I had to plug it in because battery was running low.) No idea why the problem is back today, I did nothing except close it and plug it in.
Today there's a difference: if I hold down the power button for ten seconds the screen comes on and gives me a "slide to shut down your pc" screen with a picture of a hedgehog.
So I can do this every time I want to wake the computer, but come on. It was working yesterday! This is very annoying!
I tried reinstalling the nvidia drivers, the trick which seemed to work yesterday but which did nothing, though today I installed the "studio ready" drivers and I think yesterday might have installed the "game ready" drivers — though that should make no difference as the problem was back today, so it can't be that. I've also tried updating the BIOS, which did nothing.
Has anybody solved this permanently? Is this highly rated computer actually a lemon?
Update=Resolved-I reinstalled the OS today, and so far so good. It hasn't yet broken, and it's waking properly and not automatically restarting.
