Alienware Aurora R7 M.2 compatibility SSD
Hi,
I am thinking about removing my Intel Optane and replacing with a M.2 SSD. I read a lot of threads here about the M.2, how to clone, excellent step-by-step but not info about compatibility of M.2 SSDs.
I found 02 options to buy:
1- SAMSUNG 860 EVO Series M.2 2280 1TB SATA III V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-N6E1T0BW
2- SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.3 V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V7S1T0B/AM
I noticed that the M.2 form is the same but there is a difference, the first one (860), cheaper is SATA and the second one (970) is NVMe. The Aurora R7 is compatible with both or just the 970?
Thanks in advance.

Looks like that 860 is old SATA only . That will not work .
Only a M.2-2280-NVMe SSD ( like 970-NVMe and many other recent-model SSDs) will work in that slot.
