Alienware R11 vs Prebuilt Weird results

Ok I set up both GPU to over clock the same (exact cards bought in the R11 at same time). There is a few differences like name brand of ram and motherboard. But pretty much the same systems all but the I9 and I7 both being 10th Gen.

I guess my question is why is the pre built out performing the R11 when clearly the R11 should win. Hoping to learn more about my R11 and maybe get some more mileage out of it. Because if I can not benefit from the I9 why spend the money? And sell the R11 and keep maxing out The White Knight. Buy the way soon to have the GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA just ordered it. (CAN NOT WAIT)

On to the benchmarks. Both links will open in new windows for your viewing pleasure lol. Notice the OC on the R11 2080Ti is slightly higher then the pre built 2080Ti. I assume because of the I9.

I suspect your ASUS motherboard is giving The White Knight the edge, it's not a fair race.

Power supply, motherboard, ram memory type all would have to be the exactly the same to compare the CPUs.

That 3080 will be here before you know it...

Yeah I have a ASUS Prime Z490-A in the Knight its just weird I really thought the R11 would out run it. I am running a few more tests to. I was having issues with the R11 for awhile and seems they are gone now. I dont now these things are a ? sometimes when it comes to Alienware. She is running now like the day she came home.

She is prolly made at me because I always take The White Knight out and not her

Also The White Knight just looks so awesome . . . the aesthetics alone add at least 50 horsepower

@FinalTouch68

Just to clarify some terminology so I don't get confused;

The Aurora R11 is "prebuilt" by Dell in their factory.

The White Knight is a "custom build" by @FinalTouch68 is his top secret electronics laboratory.

GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA . . . sweet, should be fun!

@Anonymous

LOL yeah I messed the heading up and figured it out after not being able to fix it.

If I mod could be so kind to fix it to say Custom instead of Prebuilt I would give you a big fat kudos lol...

@r72019

Hmm did even think about that swap. Maybe just maybe when I get bored this week end it just may happen. Because I was considering up darting to the 9 in the Knight. The cpu score is much higher on the 9

And the plastic wont have much to do with thermals compared to the Knight she has 8 fans holding her up.

"the I9 and I7 both being 10th Gen.  Because if I can not benefit from the I9 why spend the money? And sell the R11 and keep maxing out The White Knight."

You can swap it around and put the i9 in the custom build, and i7 in the prebuilt R11.  To see how that improves your knight. There's also probably the factor of improved thermals under armour vs. Alien plastic.
