Antenna Cables (Alienware Area 51 R2)

Hi everyone,

My Area 51 R2 has been performing really well over the years. After re-inserting my Intel Dual band wireless ac 7260 card, the antenna cable (black) wouldn't clip onto the metallic pins on the wireless card. Ever since then, my Bluetooth range is not good, so is there a way to replace the antenna cable? I did notice it’s location is on top of the chassis

Welcome to the Dell Community  @US.POLO

I cannot find the Dell part number for the cable.

Can you check and see if there is a part number label attached to the cable???

If not there are WiFi cables listed on eBay that should work.

Glad to have joined the Dell Community, and am keeping my interest in the Alienware brand.  "U2CAMEB4ME" thank you, for providing me with the support. In fact, I am not sure how to open the top portion of the R2 frame  where the antenna are kept.

For replacement, I can check with the gaming wireless cards, and figure out the reccomended antenna. However, could you provide some instructions, for removing the defective antenna's that are placed on-top of the R2 chassis?

@US.POLO

I cannot find any instructions to remove/replace the antennas.

You can place the antennas anywhere on the "Outside" of the metal case

Alienware Area 51 R2 Service Manual:

Not sure if the Killer 1650 will work???

Look at the Network drivers for known compatible cards.

U2 thanks for the support, and I have read through the R2 service manual. Instead, there isn't anything on the antennas, but other than removing or replacing the WiFi card. Likewise, network drivers online aren't upto date with specifications as I have selected a newly released product. Maybe someone has opened the case where the antenna strings are attached, or I will take your suggestions and place them on top of the inside case. It be nice to here from someone that has experience with such an issue.
