Area-51 R2, CPU pump replacement question
Alienware Area-51 R2
I have an older Alienware Area 51 R2 that I think has a failing cpu heat pump. From a cold boot directly into the BIOS the BIOS reports my CPU temp at 90+ degrees Celsius after only a minute or two. Diagnostics showed the pump was "running" and every hardware check showed to have passed....but I still figured the pump might be on its way out given that CPU temp does not seem "normal" for a CPU at idle.
So I found a site online that showed to have a replacement pump setup in stock...or so I thought. I thought I was ordering a pump with the part #0K31VH (taken directly from the sticker on the existing pump/fan setup in my PC. The site ended up shipping me a #0R5TNT.
As best I can tell, these things look very similar *except* for the plug for where the CPU pump is supposed to plug into the motherboard. Here is a picture of the existing/old plug vs. the plug on the new one:

The new plug technically seems to fit (at least in the sense that I can physically connect it to the motherboard) despite half the connector hanging over the end of the socket on the motherboard. I noted the new plug has that little loop back wire going from the 5th pin from the left back to the first which obviously the original does not have. I'm not sure if it's needed or what that is for though. I'm not sure if I should try to use this or not.

@Cass-Ole I have purchased the TFGHM off of ebay and also bought the artic mx 6 thermal paste. I replaced my old radiator with the new one i received today and in cleaned off the CPU and put the new MX6 paste on there. But the temperature seems to be lower than it was but still seems high. These are what i am getting while idling. Am i misreading them?

I don't own A51 R2-R7 nor run a CmndCntr version for this model or era, I've not seen this temp dashboard before you've screen-capped, & the text does look fuzzy on my end
I DO see a CPUFAN temp of 138F = 58 C? Is that the issue? Is 138/58C the CPU temp as telegraphed through this CmndCntr dashboard? We'd like a typical idle temp of about 30-40C tops. You said the temp is better now, but still high. Yes, anything over 40C is high (esp. when we'd like 30C) ... my CPU idles at 73F/22C right now, so room temp
I'm using Intel XTU (Extreme Tuning Utility) for temps, there are other equally good software programs to report CPU temp (ex. HWInfo). Can u download a different program as a comparison vs CmndCntr & show the idle temp? And if it's better now after the cooler swap, what was it prior? Worse than 138f / 58c? I can say that the TFGHM/HR6V4 cooler is the stock factory as-shipped cooler approved & wrrantied by the Aliens & Asetek for R3 R6 R7, it should be working, is it possible u can clamp it down at all four corners a micro-tad more & recheck?
In the past, was a 27% RPM on the Rad-Fan typical at idle (sounds correct, CmndCntr seems to have a conservative idle rpm speed, ~1000RPM or less)?
HWInfo MIGHT be able to monitor the pump speed which we'd like to be about 2000-3000rpm, with that dashboard open we might disconnect the cooler pump from the header if need be to see if any of the fan line-items go to 0RPM, plug it back in, then read the RPM if it registers & know it's being monitored, & if so, what was its RPM? In 'spec'?

@Cass-Ole Sorry about the pictures being blurry. I captured them with the snipping tool app on windows to post them.
The temperature was higher than the 138F. It seems to stay around the 150F. That is why my initial thought was that the radiator might be bad, so i ordered the new one. I am unsure what else could be causing it to stay so high during idle.
I am a little confused on how the CmndCntr seems to get its temperatures. The CPU Overview shows the temperature at 91 degree F and the CPU always seems to be at 4.xx ghz. But on the thermal profiles is shows that all the temperatures are fine except the CPU Fan shows 138 degrees F. I have also downloaded the HWInfo software to test and I will attach a screenshot of what it is giving me for the temperatures. I can also test today about removing and testing the software with the new rad/fan.
The 27% does seem to be the norm letting the system auto control the CPU Fan.

Hi. The CPU seems to always report as 4.xx Jigawatts? In Windows 10 search box, type Control Panel, open/launch it, find & clik System & Security, open then clik Power Options & check if your plan is set to Balanced vs Hi-Performance. If u find it's set to Balanced & yet it still runs at max speed (typically it should idle at a low 1-1.5Jigawatts as a lower power/thermal saving speed), you'd go from there, try to solve that. However, we'd expect a CPU set to Hi-Performance to run at max & it would get warmer than normal that way (set to Balanced so the clock-speed drops & CPU runs cooler etc)
HWInfo suggests you're idling at a decent temp, but why not try AMD's RyzenMaster software to confirm. To me, a CPU that idles at 30C or below represents a good cooler, where 30-40C is still acceptable, over 40 & we'd start to wonder what's up with the system. My guess is the Ryzen software will confirm good CPU temps there. If so, it could mean the old cooler was working (u could test it out again afterwards if u wish). Someone else will need to explain what the CPUFan @ 138F means, as I'm unfamiliar with that sensor or its reading (my desktops use older CmndCntr v2, not the newer v4/v5 as u have)

@TXIce Was this problem ever solved? I have the same cpu temp issue and can’t decide if it’s the fan or cpu sensor malfunctioning.

@Kreg27 I had the issue and found a cooler that works with some screw swapping from the original cooler. I had to use the screws that hold the fan to the cooler and the ones to hold the fan to the case. I also have to run the hoses up like the original radiator as well. But it works great and have had great Temps all day! I used the mid tower fan plug on the motherboard for the lights on the cooler and plugged the pump in to the cpu pump plug location and disregarded the sata power cable it came with. The one I'm using is a be quiet! Pure loop 120mm aio.

My serious apologies for drudging up a semi-old thread, but it seems there is more info here than anywhere else. Even though I pulled the trigger I am hoping that the answer will justify the purchase (LOL) I have a 9yr old are 51 R2 (Purchased on 2015, with Haswell CPU OC'ed to 4ghz) recently my system started running hot (89C), so I replaced my entry level 0K31VH cooler with the NVDDX with added thermal paste of corsair XTM70 and now as shown in the picture my system on idle is 38C in the BIOS and during the day of usage it runs at 54-55C with the CPU fan 80% of the day at 1189 with some spikes to 1204 (I do not use the system for gaming, I am an IT and use the machine for tracking and remoting into various system). If it helps I have a titan Z dual hooked up to 2 55" tv's and 2 37UW monitors which monitor many things during the day.
My question has to do with the TFGHM Cooler, being that this cooler is larger and a simple CPU bracket swap would make it work with my intel, how much of a temp difference could I be looking at in reduction? I already purchased it as a backup to the NVDDX I put in last week, just incase this doesnt last like my original, but if there is a significant difference in temp, I would switch them and use the TR and put the NVDDX as the backup.
Any rough results welcome.

I can't give u an exact figure estimate for the temp reduction, but u could run that experiment yourself to find out, given as u said the CPU retention bracket is generally easy to swap over from AMD to Intel type. On paper u should see an improved drop in temps, my guess would be 5 degrees (F) minimum, 10 max

Thank you for the reply, I plan to do this in the next couple of weeks between work and xmas I have to find a time to do it, I was hoping for 15F less, but 10F is still good. I also wanted to know what would you consider the best app to monitor the temp, as I have noticed variations from the HWMonitor free and the Pro version as well as using HWinfo.
I'll post about the temps as soon as I get this done.
