Aurora ACT1250, SupportAssist issues
my dell/alienware support assist app launches, but refuses to pass the 'preparing' phase or says system is busy try later for a couple days. And in website if prompt a scan after machine is detected, does the same thing, scanning 90 % and stays there! I've downloaded the 2025 dec alien update app universal 5.5.0 ) but it does it too. I restored to a couple days ago when they updated Visual C++ redist and I see they did that twice, but I just really liked the support asst app when it worked. Restore system creates some restore points, not in a particular interval, S I think its strange. MayB use revo, mayB find the complete package? Ive had this computer for about a month.
Win 11,home vers.

I ran 3DMark (Demo/Lite version) TimeSpy DX12 from Steam on my:
MSI-mb, Intel i9-14900K, 64gb DDR5 Ram, RTX-4080
Windows-11 Pro (64 bit) v25H2
VBS: On
... and it ran fine with no problems. A couple of times in a row actually, with no adverse effects to the stability of my system either. Score was 25,972.
Since you are apparently dead-set on running it ... if you need additional help with Support-Assist (and related Dell programs and Processes), I suggest you post your question and/or issue here (they setup a whole dedicated forum section for it).

I suggest you use AW-CC for lights and fans.
Windows already does Restore Points itself.
Use Support-Assist for what you find useful, but not sure I would "depend on it" for anything important. Use your other programs as before.
Get yourself a good full-backup (Imaging) program or at least backup your important files regularly.

@Tesla1856 Gotcha, I was readung that the Dell/Alienware supoort asst is EOL for awhile, I didn't know. I used it successfully as recent as 10 days, But the only thing today that works, is everything except the scan software. The ubiversal from june last Year does scan, and is user friendly, SO I guess Im good. I have a drive to save system images. and file save is good on same drive. Thx.

So help * I used latest bios ver.. from update center. Is now 1.14.0 I am getting errors and slowed responses from anything that scans system info, and the only error that is apparent is 'your pc doesn't support ssse 3' so Im thinking its the new bios, which is nice so Im wondering the new nomen. Ibe rolled windows to a reinstall (repair vers.) and support assist is displaying available updates.. What can You tell me about the new bios ?

Basically any program/software that needs a system scan / cpu id, to perform -doesn't. ( dell/aw support assist, 3d mark, AW update universal) ... etc

@dbrewster ,
Are you sure a non Dell/Alienware program like 3D-Mark is included also? Try running it again after a reboot and system has settled to idle.

@Tesla1856 Its true, just tested 3d Mark, It does the init system info scan, then I launch time spy dx 12(not extreme vers) then it runs, displays all info. So a rerun it runs, and doesn't display any processor info, but completes, One more run, and It fails at the cpu test, closes my session, and I have to log back in. I have the newest dlls 4 driver, that would do frame Gen in games, but 3d mark has its own config, so is default- Also if run the Benchmark successfully, and sometime try rerun, it takes forever to scan the system for the benchmark, so close 3d mark and relaunch, the ui for benchmark selection Time Spy dx 12, shows I cannot run this benchmark, on my pc.. And have determined (over the weekend) that the ssse 3 instructions are failing. Ive also uninsatlled both programs (dell support and 3d/ Futyre mark) with revo advanced uninstall, Got the new dell support asst from the web, it updated my awcc, so ,good, then supplied a newer version, that finds no updates of course, but did run. Close to startup, However even the new support asst, hangs on "preparing" if I wait more than a few minutes, or run something else. Im not sure what to do,, Heres a screenshot of the C++ redist multiple entries, by a game,,
( i hope that worked) it wasnt included so is still on computer I think . Which type of reset will reset all the drivers ? reinstall windows(repair vers) didn't help,

Even since dell support asst failed on prepare, the awcc performance display fails too until reboot

@dbrewster ,
Not sure what is going on there (but it sounds fairly jacked up). I don't like the idea of bad Windows-OS or rouge background program/process affecting the proper operation of other (known good and stable) programs.
If you tell me exactly where you got 3D-Mark and/or TimeSpy dx12 ... I'll install it and try to run on my MSI-mb with Intel-i9.
If you got rid of Dell Support-Assist ... why did you put it back on? You know, that computer will run Windows-11 and games just fine without it.

@Tesla1856 I understand, I liked the notifications I got for app updates, so reinstalled, It works at boot, just seems to timeout like other system info gathers. I cant swear the notifications are broken, but its a cool addition. So all my games are either steam or Ubisoft , 3D mark came from steam. This started occurance with support asst after I did the bios update, I never noticed any problem before.
I have a aw ACT 1250
Win 11 Version 10.0.26200 Build 26200
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 9 285K, 3700 Mhz, 24 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date Alienware 1.14.0, 3/9/2026 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080

@dbrewster ,
1. I'm not sure about that.
2. I'm also not sure what "App Notifications" are worth a malfunctioning system. Windows Apps are updated through Microsoft Store. After your system is running, the only thing you need from support.dell.com is the occasional (once or twice a year) BIOS or AW-CC update. Even those will tapper off after the system in a few years old (as it's replaced with others).
Everything else comes from Windows-Update. Updated Nvidia drivers come from Nvidia-App.
3. Oh, I might have it already then ... I'll check my Steam accounts.
4. Our systems are similar, but mine is not Dell or Alienware. At least I can verify that 3D-Mark works properly on Intel-i9/Nvidia-RTX .

Well the dell support assist app was preinstalled, and worked without error until recently. The reinstall was just me being smart. (and it triggered an updated version) The support assist app allows optimizations and support portals for recovery, and saved my files automatically, I just thought it A good thing.
