Aurora R10, 2.3.0 bios

On a year-old R10 5950X, I did just hours ago. So far no problem except it reset my graphic cards settings.

If you mean R10 version 1, mobo 0NWN7M : yes, mine is flashed with 2.3 bios , no problem so far.

did the pre-boot testing.

Noticed that memory speed was not XMP so I did correct the setting. Looks ok.

any idea if it's still the same AGESA version?

changelog only lists security bugs, no issues here with bios update.

I see no reason to update R10 version 1 if the AGESA version is still the old one. Running on BIOS 1.0.8 for almost 2 years now & no issues (knock on wood).

AMD has these fixes as part of their agesa releases. Did Dell somehow back port the fix to an older agesa version or are they leaving gen 1 users exposed to these vulnerabilities? 

Wrong logic.  it's about security patches not only feature improvement.. Same thing with Windows or the anti-virus updates ,why update them  because they don't crash (your logic). You are on internet connected to the whole planet that's why. Your logic is..... if it's not broken why change ?

Technically your computer is not safe I would not do banking or even buy on amazon .

Do you really think that Dell would spend time and money on updating the alienware for no reason?

AMD recommends updating the AGESA ,  IMO Dell is doing it with limitations

for gen 1, the agesa is updated...

previously if I remember, it was 1.0.0.6, now it is 1.0.0.7.

I am surprised they still refuse to bump it up to 1.0.0.8. Once again, I question if all the 1.0.0.8 fixes are in place.

 Version 1.0.0.6 to version 1.0.0.7 is a very minor update if you to call that an update.

That is not what owners of gen1 are expecting . (version 1.2.xxx)

Why play around with 1.0.0.7 when 1.0.0.8 is available  (is it's a technical issue)

I think I read somewhere that 1.0.0.7 release wasn't as stable or bug free, I don't see why they just don't bump it up to 1.0.0.8, which is what AMD currently recommends for these list of CVE fixes.

That's a good question, maybe DELL should say in the BIOS update notes about the AGESA version security updates for the Gen 1 R10.
