Aurora R10, RTX 3090, driver installation process?

Question

Hello,

I have a newer Aurora R10 with RTX 3090 and prefer to update the graphics driver with a download from NVIDIA. The computer came preloaded with GeForce Experience, but I have not used it and do not intend to.

I downloaded the latest driver from NVIDIA. I assume I should use Custom Install.

1. Should I choose clean install or not?

2. Besides the Graphics Driver what other components should I install?

PHYSX?

GeForce Experience to ensure it is up to date with the preloaded version despite my not using it?

I would assume I do not need to install the audio driver since I already have REALTEK drivers that came with the system?

Don't do a custom install. Instead do the regular install.

Geforce experience is part of the driver package. It also checks for the latest drivers, and provides the change logs etc... It only runs when you run it and does not run in the backgroud.

Audio drivers for the card will be installed, but not used. It will keep the default device the Realtek audio drivers. Considering the R10 has in my opinion poor audio quality due to the low end Codec used, I would at least check the Nvidia audio out to see if that is better than the Realtek. You will need a HDMI connection for it to an audio amplifier.

Ok, I will go with that. It is confusing because when one opens the installer, it recommends express install, and mentions that the custom install  is for those who have had trouble with installing drivers before. But I would rather not have trouble to begin with.

Maybe the custom install is safer to avoid any conflicts with the old driverr, and choose to add all the listed drivers with the custom install?

Don’t do the custom install? I always do the custom install because I thought it cleans out the older driver. I have never had any problems updating the nvidia drivers that way over the express install.

Custom install is to for example just install the video driver. However, all your other drives will not be updated. You will end up mixing old and new drivers.

If you do express it will update any older drivers with new drivers.
