Aurora R11, new bios update 1.0.8
Does anybody know anything about this new bios update 1.0.8 ? It would be nice if Dell Support would give us alittle bit more information about the bios updates and what has changed or improved so we can choose if we need it or not. It’s such a bear updating bios updates on my R11. I’m at 1.0.7 right now.
Is this what I have been looking for.
Fixes & Enhancements
- Fixed the issue where the BIOS cannot be updated using Dell SupportAssist.

Here's the explanation for the latest bios update.
Alienware Aurora R11 System BIOS | Driver Details | Dell US
It is marked as urgent. Bios updates must be installed alone--no other updates.

I installed it a few days ago and did not have any problems. Mind you that I do not have any Dell/Alienware software installed and using AHCI protocol instead of RAID.

Has anyone tested memory performance with this bios? I won't be updating it if they nerfed the memory performance like they did in 1.0.4

This is for the R11. I thought the memory issues was with the R12?
Either way, choose wisely:
Once the BIOS is upgraded to version 1.0.8 or later, you cannot downgrade the BIOS to earlier versions. BIOS downgrades are restricted when there are security updates and important fixes with earlier versions that impact the functionality of the system.

I'm just so desperate to sort the memory issue on the R12 I am willing to try everything HAHA

They must have done something other than fix supportassist update functionality if downgrades are blocked. I'd be cautious of updating right away if you have any aftermarket upgrades like RAM, fans, etc, that could potentially lose support after the bios update until others report on the update.

You won't be able to flash R11 bios to an R12, and even if you could you'd no post due to lack of microcode support in the R11 for the newer R12 CPU

Hi all, I have an R11 and I did update the bios from 1.0.7 to 1.0.8 and now the CPU temps get over 85C while gaming (I'm expressing lags and stutters while gaming as well) and before I update it was between 65C to 70C with the same game running smooth. I didn't change any settings on the PC, any idea what it could be??
* update done from the BIOS Flash Update option in the F12 Boot menu*
space are I9 10900KF, 32 gig ram, rtx 3070ti

Yikes ! I would guess it’s something to do with that 1.0.8 bios update. Looking forward to see if someone here has any insight on this as I’m scared to update to 1.0.8 even if there is a future bios update to like 1.0.9 or 1.0.10 ect we are not able to update unless 1.0.8 is updated. So I guess my new R11 is stuck at 1.0.7 which works just fine. Don’t they Test these updates at the factory? I hope you get it straighten out because thats definitely not right.

If I am not mistaken the boards are made by Pegatron, which is technically part of Asus.
I have always liked Asus hardware, but I found their software lacking and often buggy.
MSI or Gigabyte seem to be much better when it comes to the software side, with my personal preference being MSI.
