Aurora R11, RTX 3090, compatible?

Hello, I have an Alienware R11, and am considering upgrading the graphics card to an RTX 3090, I have a Dual RTx 2070 Super right now. will the Rtx 3090 fit, will it work, can it be connected to my current rig?

Looks like EVGA will be releasing a hybrid model that is 240mm in length - which could be an option - see snippet below from EVGA forums.

I'm pretty sure the 240mm is just the length of the radiator used in the hybrid. There is more to it than that. Looks like the shortest card referenced is just over 285mm, same as the nVidia RTX 3080 Founders Edition.

The 3070, 3080 and 3090 are all advertised as "Dual-Axial, Flow-Through Thermal Solution".  Based on that it seems likely that one side of the 3070 blows out the rear where the video ports are, and the other side blows out the top out the vents pictured by @Anonymous and with the fan sucking air from the bottom of the case @Anonymous @Cotsam @_person_

The crowd over at r/sffpc are rejoicing over the fact that MSI said there's Turbo and Dual versions in development.

In other words, the above picture of the 3080 is for representational purposes of what  Nvidia means by "Dual-Axial, Flow-Through Thermal Solution", and that seems to be one side is a blower, the other side (axial) is flow through from top to bottom.  Since nvidia says 3070, 3080, and 3090 all use this same tech.

@r72019

Not sure how this affects the flow pattern? For some reason, their 'top, bottom, front & back' are the opposite of how I see a computer case and components

@GTS81     The crowd over at r/sffpc are rejoicing . . .

Based on this air flow schematic, we should buy stock in Corsair before everyone with an air cooled CPU runs out to buy an AIO liquid cooler.

@Anonymous LOL, that is funny, the hot air gets exhausted straight to the CPU!

The 3080 had one fan on either side, the 3070 has both on one side, but the airflow would presumably be the same since the second fan is flow through top to bottom it shouldn't make a big difference which side it is on.

@Cotsam thanks for the detailed reply, and, sorry for not watching my thread better, I often don’t check my emails, my bad. It seems that for anyone wanting to upgrade, the 3070 will be the only option, and I guess we need to hope the versions of the 3080 or maybe 3090 come out that aren’t as long. Theoretically, if a shorter, but thicker 3080 or 3090 game out, the width shouldn’t be a problem with only one card, for it shouldn’t be as wide as TWO 2080 Supers, right? Anyways, Im just going to try to get a refund though I’m not sure I will, props to dells slow shipping taking around a month to get here so I can’t refund it. Anyways, thanks for your reply’s.

@_person_ I am happy to help, and I know what you mean.  I ordered an R11 a few weeks ago, and I won't be getting it until the middle of October.  With the new 30 series cards coming out, I wonder if I shouldn't try to cancel my order, and wait for the R13 to come out.  Decisions decisions...  Also, does anyone know if you can use the lower PCie slot on the motherboard, when just using a single graphics card?  My thought is that by moving the card down to the lower slot it might give the 3070 more room to move hot exhaust air.  If it truly does exhaust air from the top of it.

You can run a gpu in the bottom gpu slot only.  The speed (x8) is the same regardless whether it's on the top or bottom.  I've done it temporairly.  You may need to remove the 2.5" caddies to allow airflow.

You mean buy CRSR on the stock exchange when the IPO debuts, right? They filled S1 a few weeks ago. Seeking to raise $1bil in capital. I'm gonna snap up a bunch of their stocks when they come out. Who knows, if I amass enough, in 10 years, I could be on the board of director and then you will get your 2x480mm top bracket for the 1000D.
