Aurora R11, upgrading front fans

Corsair ML120 Pro fans are a good choice for compatibility and low noise. (I have only replaced my R11's front case fan with ML 120 Pro. Will also attempt to replace the CPU liquid cooler fan soon.)

The CPU liquid cooler fan should be a Corsair ML120 Pro or another compatible case fan. If your CPU AIO liquid cooler comes with a non-compatible fan, you can replace it with a compatible one.

It seems our BIOS is not too picky about the front case fan, so you are free to try any non-Corsair 120mm case fans, such as the Noctua. Twin front fans (intake) are very likely a good idea, although you should verify. My understanding is that net negative case pressure is better for cooling. In the unlikely case, you might have to add a second exhaust fan (such as a PCI-e blower fan) to maintain the net negative case pressure.

Common cooling tricks (for Aurora R10/R11) I have seen on various Alienware forums so far:

• Air-cooled CPU overheating: install Corsair H60 liquid cooler.
• High-end liquid-cooled CPU overheating: under-volt it.
• Liquid-cooled, thermal-padded CPU overheating: throw out the thermal pad and use real thermal paste.
• Mid- to low-end aftermarket GPU overheating: return the cheap and buy an Asus Dual-Fan instead.
• Mid- to low-end factory GPU overheating: underclock it.
• High-end GPU overheating: sell it and buy an AIO liquid-cooled graphics card.
