Aurora R13, blinking orange AlienHead power switch two blinks

Alienware Aurora R13

Alienware Aurora R13

This orange blinking light (the alien) issue has plagued me for months. I am now having to "power drain" this PC about twice a month. The interior lights, except for the Geforce don't come on anymore. Maybe it's Win 11 but this problem shouldn't exist.

Two blinks could be 2,2 "System board: BIOS or Read-Only Memory (ROM) failure".

Try clearing CMOS by removing the CR2032 coin cell battery and then do the 'power drain'.

Sorry to be so inexperienced. Where is this battery ? Do I power the PC off before removing the battery, or unplug ? Do I put the battery back in and power up before the power drain or power drain then remove and replace the battery ?

No need to be sorry. Disconnect the power cord from the back of your power supply, or unplug it from the wall socket. The CR2032 coin cell battery is shown in the photo. It should "pop out" when you release the retaining ring. Take your time to figure that out, and make note of which side of the battery is facing out when you remove it so you can put it back in the same way. Once you get the coin cell battery out, press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This will drain any residual power. Put the coin cell battery back in, reconnect power, power up and see if the problem is resolved.

Thank you for the clear procedure. I have followed it to the letter and will watch to see if the issue is resolved (I hope it is).

@bsulli5589   that would be a good place to start. The CR2032 coin cell battery is about $4 at the grocery store.

@ProfessorW00d I replaced the battery. Nothing at all now. The one time I did the drain I was able to get into BIOS and change date and time back. Now nothing. Just replaced power supply w couple months ago. Any ideas? Maybe a new power supply again? Such a screaming PC I hate to toss it

@bsulli5589   you can test the power supply with the Built In Self Test

what PSU did you use for replacement?
