Aurora R13, buzzing sound from Cryo-Tech AIO?

Just got my brand new Aurora after a 2 month wait. Everything is working fabulously except that I get a constant buzzing/whirring sound even when idling. I've opened the case and it seems to be coming from the Asetek Cryo-Tech AIO (although I can't be sure). Definitely from the top left corner area.

It's not terribly loud and gets easily drowned out by games and light music, but it's totally annoying if I have no background noise going on. My temps are fine even under heavy load and the fans are relatively quiet.

The sound is a bit like what old HDDs used to make when transferring data. Any input? Anyone else experiencing this?

My model is i7/3080.

These liquid coolers all make constant whirling sounds since there is a impeller pushing fluid thru tubes and a radiator; it's going to make some noise.  That said, you may have some air bubbles giving you more noise than is expected.  Give the bubbles some time to dissipate on their own and check the web for hints on clearing bubbles from liquid coolers...I remember reading something about tilting the case so the radiator is lower or higher than the pump...sorry, I'm old and forgetful.

But, as I recall, my R9 with liquid cooling was a little whirling sounding when brand new, and almost two years later, I don't notice it...I think it took about 2 or 3 months for that sound to be next to nothing.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the input! I called Dell Support and they had me update the BIOS which only made things worse. I got a warning about a rear fan failure and now the rear fan just randomly will start blowing full speed. when turn the system on. Maybe the issue was with the radiator fan... Who knows. I'm sending it back and getting a new one. Hopefully it doesn't take two months again. Pretty crappy experience so far on my first AW purchase.

Should not make a noise, at least not something that is audible. Sounds more like a fan problem going by the description.

I am not sure if these systems have PWM fan curve control for the fans, but running a fan at very low speeds can cause those kind of awkward sounds.

I have an Aurora-R1 (2010) and Aurora-R6 (2017) ... both with original Asetek Liquid Coolers.

I understand the potential for the pump-impeller to make faint noises, however ...

I have not experienced that with either of my machines.

My radiator fans are also operating properly, but I would think they would be more likely to make noise (worn bearing or what-not). Again, mine are quiet. Under heavy load, I just hear the extra air-flow.

I try to clean-out the machines thoroughly every 2 years with an air-compressor.

I just received my new R13 i9/3080ti yesterday. It makes a vibrating sound as well, which while fairly minor is quite annoying when you are just working at your desk.

I'm a computer tech by trade (35 years) and could have built a system but this Dell is too gorgeous to pass up... and the geek in me always wanted an Alienware LOL... anyway I tracked it to the Asetek Cryo-Tech Water Cooler Heat Sink unit (all fans are dead quiet) which seems to be humming... just as you suspect... so it could be a typical noise, but I called Dell support and they are couriering out a replacement and sending a tech to install... I got the Premium 3 yr warranty package... I wouldn't send the computer back for this... it took me from Nov. 5th order date to Jan 24th to get my first one. Everything else is amazing!

Either it's a typical water cooling "pump" sound... OR it's fixable with a replacement part. My 2 cents...

Could be an RPM issue with the pump. Is RPM control available for the cooler? If it is decreasing it slightly to 90% usually ends up solving these kind of issues.

I thought i had a similar audible sound from the pump, turns out when installing the sata hdd, the label on the power cord from that, was hitting the front fan.

I got mine yesterday and it makes a buzzing sound seemingly from the water cooler (Cryotech)

Nope.  Only fan control.

Do you guys still have this problem?

I just got my R13 with Cryotech and i have this rattling issue...

I have the same problem since I received in Nov/2021. Very annoying and I just contacted DELL Support to get it fixed. For >4300€ I expect something silent, at least in idle.

Do you have cryotech?

yes, Cryotech. Its probably coming either from the liquid pump or PSU as someone on reddit stated.
