Aurora R13, constant Black Screen, Reboots, BSOD
I was contributing to this thread , but the OP Solved it and his solution did not work for me so I am starting a new one.
Since my last post, Dell has sent me a new R13. It has the exact same problem out of the box. Black screen followed by a reboot. Dump says it was a BSOD:
Doing a "Clean PC" install seems to fix the issue, but I have no control over cooling, lights, etc. I'm 99% sure it's not hardware since I currently have two of them side by side with the same problem. I will need to return one of them in the next few days.
According to @DELL-Nathalia M, a new BIOS should be dropping on 12/24. Hopefully this will address the issue.
I'm tagging a few people that I see are having the same issue so people know this is not an isolated case:
@kaoskey @Datbudda @Mike2507 @StarGazer10 @Mavrck48 @Jodokast242 @Arexadus @Jonny @Danmy118
edit: apparently I can only mention 10 users in a post, so I will tag more in a reply

I resolved my issue by setting the Link State Power Management for PCIe to OFF. A poster in another thread said a Dell tech had suggested it.

I also changed Link State Management for PCIe to « off ». It’s too early to say if the problem is resolved but since the new setting my R13 is running without problem. For the first time Flight Simulator 2020 ran without any black screen.
Wait and see… Fingers crossed.

Hi,
This option is already set to off in my configuration, and it is failing. (Windows 11 Pro, RTX 3090).
Kind Regards.

Even though Dell support did not ask me to change the setting, I set the "Link State Power Management for PCIe" to off. I made the change recently, so it's still too early to consider it a success, but since the change, I haven't had any black screens. So far, Flight Simulator 2020 is running without any problem. Note that I also had black screens when using basic tasks (Web browsing, reading emails, using Word, Excel...).
For completeness, a stress test requested by Dell support detected an error with the SSD (only once out of several tests). An automatic order was sent to Dell for a new SSD (2TB) (currently out of stock).

Hi guys,
My Alienware Aurora R13 (specs: i9-12900kf, rtx 3090, 64bg ddr5 ram 4800mhz, 2tb ssd nvme, cryotech, killer wifi, windows 11) has this unexpected reboot / random reboot problem too.
From the first day on. It happens 5-6 times a day. I changed pci-express power saving to „off“ from „middle“, but still have random reboot one or two times a day. I use my computer every day about eight - ten hours. I use it for gaming, school stuff and creating graphics with renderings. Yesterday I contacted the Technical Support. They advised me to reset my computer ( after that it took nine hours to install everything what I needed) and actually there is no change. My Aurora R13 still has this strange and annoying problem.
kind regards from Germany

I have re-installed AWCC after removing it and set my "Power" to High Performance as recommended by another contributor. This seems to also turn PCI power management to "off" and change some other settings in the windows power profile. Stability has improved. I will report back if I crash. I hope to get some time to really stress this new PC today.

Stable for 24 hours of mixed-use on both R13s so far.

I have been getting regular BSOD's too on my new Intel based R13. Just got it on 12/9 and I keep getting nVidia related BSOD's. It's happened while playing World of Tanks, watching live streams on Edge, browsing the web in Edge and while doing nothing.

My setting ws base on speedstep on page 6 on previous forum, pretty much follow his recommendation and the BSOD promblem did not occur after that. It's been stable for the pass 2 weeks ( keep my finger cross) the setting also involve setting the power to high performance and turn PCI power management to OFF. hope that Dell will come out with an official fix.

12/25 and I don't see any update. I still have Alienware BIOS 1.0.2 from 10/2021 installed on my Aurora R13 and still getting nVidia related BSOD's on an almost daily basis.

Hello WJTech,
I still have this really bad random or unexpected reboot problem too, out off the box.
After I contacted the Technical Support they advised me to clean install Windows 11.
And with DDU uninstalling Nvidia drivers and reinstalling the new Nvidia drivers and setting AWCC to High performance.
Nothing helped. Everyday (I use my computer for school, gaming, office, Adobe and Cinema4D daily 10-12 hours) my Dell Alienware Aurora R13 ( i9-12900KF Nvidia RTX 3090 64GB DDR5 4800mHz Ram) has five or six times unexpected reboots.
I'm not sure if this problem is hardware or software related. Did you solved finally? If so which solution would be the best?
Kind Regards
Julian
