Aurora R15, Sound Issues

Alienware Aurora R15

Alienware Aurora R15

Have just purchased the R15. But no speakers as did not see any and maybe dumb but i took it as having onboard sound.

Set it up and have no sound. Looking at the back you have sockets for speakers.

My last one was an R4 and i had Logitek Z506 surround speakers with it.

I have added these but the sound keeps cutting out.

Is there anything i can do or are my speakers to old?

Did have a look on Dell web for speakers but can only seem to find headsets which i do not want.

Thanks in advance

If you hook them up like as per the manual, everything should work the same as on your R4 Speaker Manual

As for sound cutting out, some have reported this due to Dell support Assist and/or AWCC. I would suggest trying the things out from this thread: Support Assist

You can always reinstall it if it made no difference.

@poolmaster_3811cb Dropouts/stuttering/cutting out is an often reported problem (all brands not just Dell).

No one fix. For some its caused by Wi-Fi, some NVIDIA, Vendor apps such as Support Assist, some AV programs (I use the built in Windows Defender on my recording studio PC).

Download and run the free Resplendence Latency Mon. Will help in trying to find what is causing it.

@Vanadiel

Thank you for the quick reply.

Yes speakers are set up correctly.

Just uninstalled Dell assistance and unfortunately it made no difference.

Thank you all for the replies.

So i ended up chatting with Dell online who helped installed some drivers.

#Sound is now all ok.

@poolmaster_3811cb Would it by any chance have been the Realtek audio drivers? I know those can sometimes be interesting to update.

@Vanadiel Yes that was it.

Installed just like any other software and all seems ok at the moment.
