Thank you for the response. Your techs have basically thrown up their hands after 8 months. I guess my next step is the Colorado Attorneys General office.
I am awaiting another call from the tech. I am unable to get an internet connection through the Ethernet cable but I can use the wireless. They have reloaded the software at least twice. I am requesting a new NIC card.
They swapped out the motherboard several months ago. It did not solve the issue. Now the computer will not update Windows, saying the computer is not Windows 11 compatible. Funny, it was when I bought it. so I have two issues. The inability to connect to the internet using an Ethernet cable and I can’t update the computer.
This week alone, the techs have spent over 6 hours working on the computer. They do not know how to fix it and have been just trying different things. I have asked that I be sent a new hard drive preloaded with Windows and other Alien software. They that is not possible. No solution in sight.
@Btsch Have you been in the BIOS? Is TPM Security Enabled? If not that would make it currently incompatible with WIN 11. Everything else should meet requirements.
Don't be too hard on the Techs. Their job isn't as glorious as it sounds ;P
The Techs have been wonderful and are very knowledgeable. But this seems to beyond their knowledge base. The current answer is to reformat and reinstall Windows for the 2nd time. I don’t mess with the BIOS. So it shouldn’t have been changed in the first place.
Did you ever get this resolved? My R16 has woken up without internet several times ... I can access the local network including my server, but not the internet ... and this is the only PC in my house having this issue. A reboot will work, but this last time I unplugged the ethernet cable and plugged it back in and that apparently reset the internet access, but that's obviously not a solution, just another piece of data. I'm gathering symptoms and other details before putting in a ticket.
No, the problem developed into a much worse problem because somewhere along the line, a needed partition disappeared and the computer will not run Windows 11. The only solution is to reformat and reload Windows. Dell has sent me everything I need but I was out of the country for a couple of weeks and now will be traveling for Christmas. I will tackle it the first of the year. We will see if that fixes everything. I am not holding my breath. Good luck.
i can only guess that it was when they had me reload Windows the first time. It was after a couple of Windows updates that I got a message that my computer was not Windows 11 compatible. That lead to the conclusion that a partition was missing or corrupt. There was a suggestion that Norton filled up the partition and didn’t leave any room.

I'm surprised they haven't swapped some parts out yet.

@Btsch What replaced the partition? Unless it was corrupted that's strange to say the least.

@Btsch Ah Norton. Not needed, neither is MacAfee or any of those. Windows 11 by default comes with Windows Defender, which is all you need.

In my opinion, Windows Defender does not update its virus protection often enough.
I am now using WebRoot since it already comes with my Carbonite Subscription. No problems so far.
Thanks for everyone's help
