Aurora R3, Problem installing DDR3 ram

Question

Hello everyone,

I have a Dell Alienware Aurora R3 with three DDR3 (pic 02 and 03) , (Total 6GB) that all works fine, ''BUT'' I have one slot that is empty and I have some extra DDR3 (Pic 01). When I install them, (slot 1 and 3) or (2 and 4) the pc does not boot ( 2 Beep) Memory problem.

I am stuck there LOLL

Any help plz?

Aurora-R3 was always finicky about it's ram (search old forum threads). If you install compatible EXACTLY matching DIMMs in ALL slots ... it might reward you and actually work properly.

All I did was typed "R3 RAM" in the "Search the entire community" box up there and the suggested result led me to it.

Surprised to find DDR3 still affordable today. I'd thought that other than the RAM du-jour, all other flavors would be prohibitively expensive due to how the memory-poly industry works.

In photo 1 you show 1600mhz ram at 1.65v, and photo 2 you show 1333 ram at 1.5v.  So your RAM is mismatched.  I think your best shot of getting it to post like this would be to disable XMP in BIOS.  The Dell bios is pretty limited.  So otherwise, there's not much else to do with what you have.

The ram that works is VERY specific. 16 gigs is max with 4 gigs max dimm size.
