Aurora R5, upgrade options from 1070SLI setup
I'm looking to upgrade my current setup from its original SLI configuration.
Intel i7-6700@ 3.40ghz
16gb RAM
GTX 1070 SLI
What cards should I be looking into, ideally an RTX series, but should I keep it conservative and stick to older RTX or would it support the newer gens?

@Primefer
The problem with Rebooting has to do with Combined power on 3.3v 5v rails.

Which is why the Seasonic 1000W units have issues.
EVGA 850B has 160W combined on those rails and works fine for a single 3090 card.
EVGA 110-BQ-0850-V1
Non dell power supplies also need an adapter for the optical drive power.

Only the 3090 cards support SLI and you need 1600W power supply to make that work.
NVIDIA is abandoning SLI and ATI is abandoning Crossfire. That concept was on life support in 2020.

Linus tried 1000W power supply and it crashed and rebooted.
Others also have this issue.
Corsair AX1600i is the one that works with more than 160W on the 3.3v/5v rails combined.

Doh, I should have mentioned that I'm good with a single card solution, I don't feel like SLI is actually well enough supported by most games to be worth the expense rn.
Thank you though, I'm still going to look over the solution you offered!

The other limitation that's going to hit you with higher end GPUs is finding one that physically fits inside the case. Aside from the OEM Dell 3090, there's verify few flagship options available on the market that will physically fit in the case. If you are looking at a lower to mid-range RTX 3000 series you will have much more options to choose from (then, due to the shortage, the next question is how to find one at retail pricing).
