Aurora-R5, will not power on
I have an Aurora R5 that I had to do a forced shutdown on. Now, it will not power up. I can press the power button and it will light up for one second then goes out. The fans start to come on as well but shutdown when the light goes out. Is it my mother board? Any help would be appreciated.

Unplug from wall AC-Power and then press the power-button a few times.
After 30 minutes, re-connect and see if it will power-up.

Did that with no success. If you press the button on the back of the power supply and hold it, it will turn the fans on at high speed but that's about it. I'm thinking the bios got fried. New motherboard?

I found another post where the person had the same situation. A Bios upgrade failed and now when you press the power switch, it will come on for 2 seconds and then go off. Can this be corrected by using the ROM Recovery jumpers?

Possibly ... I can't tell from here. :Smile:
Sure go ahead and remove the CMOS Battery and play with the jumpers. Just try not to make it worse.

Having same issue were you able to resolve. Board i have is used. Was thinking of replacing cmos battery any info would be appreciated.

Same here. My son did a few updates one day and BIOS was one of them. Hasn't turned on since. Tried a new power supply and no go. Must be the motherboard. I then bought a new case, power supply, and motherboard off eBay, and the new motherboard has the flashy alien head 3,6 and 3,7 codes. No luck. Out of warranty.

1. Yeah, shotgun repairs rarely pan-out. Not on computers, appliances, cars, etc.
2a. If you think the eBay MB is bad, I would return it for a refund.
2b. Sounds like it's trying to recover it's BIOS. Use BIOS-Recovery 2/3 Procedures

Same with my R5, last Thursday (12/13), Dell update manager automatically downloaded and installed 5 available drivers, after reboot got this issue, Dell updates are killing a lot of motherboards. I'm not getting any answer from DellCares, and Dell support wants to charge me for this, too bad for them, I bought 5 computers from them the last 2 years (2 of them are Alienware).
I will not buy a Dell/Alienware any more, I understand that parts fails, but this issue is not a failed part, they killed it with their bad update and don't want to take care of their mess.
I still have a case open with Dell support, we will see.
