Aurora R6, Recovery Aptio Setup Utility

Question

My PC told me that a bios update was available and so I accepted the auto update. All seemed to go well and the pc rebooted and I carried on. Later in the evening, my corsair (icue) software said there was an update, so I set it going and as it was late, I left it working. In the morning, the icue software said it needed to reboot to finish setup and the pc rebooted, but this time the screen didn't come on. I tried hitting F12, F2 when starting the pc to no avail. Finally, I decided to take the cmos battery out and left it for a few minutes. I put it back in and disconnected all devices (even my corsair keyboard and mouse) and connected a different keyboard and mouse. It now brings up the Aptio Setup Utility with only the Recovery option. I have downloaded on another device the bios and created bootable usb using rufus as suggested by a youtube video, but I can't get the pc to boot to the usb as I can'y bring up the boot options by pressing F12 Does anybody know how I can get around this and get my pc back. I can see the picture?. Is this because I posted it?

The PC isn't on a UPS (If that is uninterruptible power supply), but as far as I am aware we didn't suffer any power outage as the pc was still logged in and had the status from the icue software to restart to complete the update.

1. So, sounds like you got past that (which is good).

2. Yeah, bad idea. Is this Aurora-R6 on a real UPS (like a APC) ?

2. Looks like the machine is in BIOS Recovery mode. So, unlike your description of events ... it appears that the BIOS upgrade never finished and went side-ways. :Crying:

In the end i took it to a shop.

There they had to take the latest bios exe, convert it to a .hdr file. Then they converted that to a .rcv file. With this, they used an old Dell recovery tool to make a Dell specific bootable USB with the rcv file on it. They were then able to boot the pc using this usb and it re-flashed the bios.

I haven't found out yet what they did to convert the file twice , but I may ask them sometime.

The charge was quite reasonable at UK £29.99
