Aurora R7, Blu-Ray drive upgrade?

Alienware Aurora R7

Alienware Aurora R7

I am looking to upgrade the DVD drive to a Blu-Ray RW drive. I have a modular PSU, and was looking at this drive as an option. Is this drive compatible with my PC?

I don't know, but I do know that those "slim drives" are pretty fragile, and fairly un-reliable if you actually use them often.

Better to get a "real" 5.25-inch Blu-Ray player/burner/ripper (LG's are good) and install in a quality USB-3.0 External enclosure.

I've posted about it before (either in Alienware or XPS desktops section).

That one is a generic slim optical drive c/w R7.

your current dvd drive should be slim using slim sata power cable from psu.  blue ray drive uses same connector as dvd drive.

The slim Blu-ray device appears to be compatible. You would use the same power and data cables that are connected to your current DVD drive. As a general note: steer clear of The Egg Store.
