Aurora R7, door contact broken

Question

hi guys i have an alienware aurora r7 and i got one of the cables from the PSU caught in the connectors for the led lights on the door that opens.

im wondering if anybody knows where i can source a spare part to fix this?

or am i FUDGED literally as the door no longer lights up

i have the dell part number 0V593G

Do you have a photo of what exactly is damaged? Hard to tell what you are referring to.

The triangle side panel light board that the LED cable plugs into changed from R5 to R7 and they are not cross compatible between generations. If you're just asking about the cable, I don't know if that (wiring) changed.

For the R7, the Dell Part number is V3GRW for the entire LED connector unit. They sell for around $20 for the board + LED cable on ebay. Note that this part is for the R7. The comparable R5 part will not work in the R7 (others have tried).

Ah, that's the part that goes inside the chassis (on the top front).  I thought you had a problem with the LED connector on the actual door/panel. As long as the dell part numbers match up you should be fine.

hi @JOcean I have seen they both have the part but getting it shipped to the UK is the nightmare im facing    what I don't understand is why nobody here sell's the part ??   the UK I mean lol

I can relate to that. I live in Canada and getting something shipped from the USA to here is either a non-issue or with shipping charges that are off the scale. Parts-People for example are the number one source for Dell parts but shipping and money exchange make it an expensive proposition.

I see that Impact (the first link) ships to Europe but I can only guess the cost and logistics.

im not sure how much that is in pounds yet lol,

but its expensive for parts that you can't get here.
