For the record because it still rankles with me, the "fully upgradeable" R7 has its BIOS locked. The board will do it, but the I7-8700K CPU is the limit for the R7. You cant upgrade to a i7-9700 because of the BIOS.

I have the Alienware R7 with 8700k, does it mean I have to stick with the cpu and no more upgrades options?!
