Aurora R7, into Aurora R13 case
Hi folks,
I was wondering if it's possible to swap the Aurora R7 case for the new Aurora R13 case to improve thermals?
Anybody tried to see if that's possible? Can I buy the Aurora R13 case from the Dell website?

R13 proprietary form factor, new ATX12VO 10 pin connector
R7 microATX form factor, 24 pin conventional ATX connector

Unfortunately no, the R13 case is designed to accommodate R13 proprietary board only. No other Dell OEM board can fit this case. R7 board would not fit or work in R13 case. R13 is new model so Dell probably is not selling empty case now. On the other hand even if one day the case is available somewhere, what can you do with it other than looking at it? You could not install any motherboard in the world in this case except an R13 board. So might as well buy a refurbished or used R13 if you like the model but do not want to buy a new unit.
Dell has made desktop pc highly proprietary now to stop user from swapping or upgrading motherboard. Blame it on Dell. They want you to dump the older Aurora and buy their new model in whole piece. The only possible components you can salvage from R7 is gpu and ddr4, but both probably much slower for R13 spec.

The R13 uses a custom board, more so than previous generations.
It will not fit, and neither will half of the wiring match the R7 requirements.
The better path to take would be upgrading to standard ATX form factor components, including a new case and use what you can from the R7. Mostly CPU. Ram, video card, SSD/HDD.
