Aurora R8, or home built?
Hello all, I have been considering buying an Alienware Aurora r6 for some time now (1600$). I aim to hit 4k while maintaining 60+fps. I mainly play solo RPG's when I'm not working or schooling, and it helps to get into the game more, personally, when I run all the settings on 'ultra'. my only concern is can the aurora run this without overheating? since it doesn't come with liquid cooling installed (as far as I'm aware).
My other alternative is ordering all the components separately and buying a compatible tower and do the installation myself. my limit to spend is 1700$.
any advice? or anyone have an aurora r6 that can run these specs? or would building my own be cheaper and run better?

Hello forum members ...
I'm posting this above for @B Machine .
Is there a way to guarantee a config will do 60-FPS (on certain games) before it is built ?

That config looks good.
Only thing I would change is:
c. Only certain ram configs come with ram in (matched) sets of 2 (to allow faster Dual Channel operation).
Like ...
- 16GB Dual Channel HyperX DDR4 XMP at 2933MHz (2X8GB)
- 32GB DDR4 at 2666MHz Dual Channel
IMO, Mhz-speed is not so important (since it is all very fast). But you want Dual-Channel if possible.
d. 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD (Boot)
- So you have plenty of room and can put your favorite games on the (super-fast C: ) SSD as well.
d. 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s
- Do people still put small spinning HDDs inside machines? 2.5inch SATA-3/600 SSDs are so cheap now.
g. It has G-Sync (which is nice I've heard, but I've never had a need for it) but it says it has a TN-Panel. I personally would never buy a TN-based panel... the colors are only fair and the viewing angles are poor compared to a IPS-panel.
Yes, 1440p is a good target resolution. Yes, at 27 inches, 1440p is what you want for a nice DPI/PPI.

I already responded to B Machine in a private message, but in a nutshell... maybe. 1440p and max/ultra settings for most games on a standard 1080 might get you close to 60 fps, but depending on any background processes, memory usage, GPU clock speed, etc... will likely fall a little short of that magical 60+ fps on AAA games.
My suggestion would be to go for a 1080 TI minimum if you want to remain future proof for at least one or two more cycles. A 2080 or 2080 TI would be better.
With my 8700k and 1080 R7, I can run most titles at 4k on medium settings and get around 50 fps and v-sync which is just fine for me. On VR applications, I can run most titles at max/ultra and still maintain 90 Hz fixed through the headset.
