Aurora R9, COD Warzone CPU Usage @ 100%
Hopefully I can get some help with an issue that just started happening yesterday. Every time I play warzone my CPU usage is running up to 95-100% and is causing major issues, causing gameplay to be unbearable. Mind you, I should be able to run all specs on the Ultra settings in Warzone with my Samsung G7 240hz monitor and the below specs in my Aurora R9. Trying to see if anyone can help me figure out why this is happening and how to fix. The problem just started, and did not have issues over the weekend when playing the same specs. Please Help! Aurora R9- i7 9th Gen 16GB Ram- Hyper X 8x2 RTX 2080 Super 512GB SSD/1TB SATA HDD Windows 10 Pro I also am running hardline ethernet with a 500MBPS internet speed with around 22.39ms.

Just to be clear, is COD Warzone using 100% of the CPU or is some other program using up CPU usage while playing COD?
Have you checked "Task Manager--Processes" to nail down where the CPU hog is?

I tried to take a screenshot at a higher CPU percentage, but it wasn't working. It kept spiking up and down, but here is a snapshot of what else is running when it does spike however.

I regularly check the Task Manager, and Warzone is using like 85-90% of the 100% CPU usage. It usually was using like 50-60% before.

OK, thank you, that answers the question...it is the program COD Warzone that is running the CPU usage up, not a problem with some rogue program or malware going crazy.
Now the question is "What happened with COD?"
Have you had a chance to check any COD forums to see if anyone else has had this problem?
Is there any possibility that there was an update to COD between the time it played OK and the problem started?
Is there any possibility that anything else updated during that time period? (Such as video drivers?)
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to help solve the problem!

Downloading will check it out in a short while on my i9-9900K 32GB memory on RTX 3080.

I haven't been able to find any recent updates or anything directly related on the COD Forums. I did update my 2080 Super Driver.
Any other drivers I should be looking at?

I wonder if something in that new video driver is the problem?
Seems suspicious that the game played fine up to the new video driver.
Obviously, rolling back that driver would eliminate it as the problem, but that's a lot of work, so first let's see if markburv or someone else familiar with that game can help get to the root of the problem.

I am on 1440p 165Hz, I noticed the default settings not ultra as you have, it was also without ray tracing enabled by default.
What res are you running?
Try resetting the graphic settings to default and setting Vsync to be the max 240Hz like your screen, and try 165Hz to compare screenshots.

I did a test, the training, first I set the GPU to 165Hz max in settings with V-Sync:
Open Hardware Monitor:
My CPU maxed at about 48%
My memory maxed out at 13.5GB
I have the latest NVIDIA drivers.

If you set the framerate unlimited, then the GPU pushes as many frames as possible. But this is not the issue.
The issue is you have maxed out either GPU or CPU if you cannot have 240 FPS. In this case it is the CPU.
If you reset the graphics settings in COD with Vsync at 120 max, we can rule out settings that may be CPU intensive, test like I have in the training.
Edit: oops sorry @Infernal526 thought you were the Thread OP
Edit2: lol you are the Thread OP ok ignore my first Edit, sorry

I am running 1440p on my Samsung G7. Not sure if playing the actual warzone makes a difference, I believe the training isn't connected to the 150 player battle royal online.
I have the framerate set to unlimited, so I am assuming it will run whatever my monitor will allow. The monitor is a 240hz, but during gameplay it rarely gets over 120, except for loading screens.

Just a question about this issue. Does this have anything to do with windows game mode? Like shutting services that are not needed when gaming? I mean wow!!! that’s a lot running in the background for sure. Interesting and great help , hope you get it figured out.

No, the OP has a problem with COD Warzone using the CPU at almost 100%.
Also, my understanding of Windows 10 game mode is it keeps Windows Update from interrupting and possibly crashing your game, it doesn't shut down all non essential Windows back-round operations (as you would think it would). Some folks found it caused gaming problems, I shut mine off back then and never turned it back on.
Jeepers, my games play fine. Another "try it on, try it off, see which works better for you" Windows parameter.

It would really be nice to have some stats from HardwareMonitor for example, clock speeds, temperatures, and loads with history like in my photos.Your CPU may be overheating, maybe thus downclocking and thus increasing percentage, check your fans are still turning, your cooling is still working, maybe the thermal paste has given up. But before that:
Make sure you are on "High Performance" Power management in AWCC and Computer Power Management to avoid downclocking.
If that doesn't fix, downgrade your settings in COD.
If that makes a difference, roll back your NVIDIA drivers to the previous version with DDU for example, and reset your COD settings to as before.
Edit: Try also a Reinstall a fresh copy of COD
