AW2721D, AWCC background server prevents screen saver

Hi,

I have an Alienware AW2721D, purchased on May 11, 2021. Every once in a while, my screen saver and sleep/hibernation stop working, and I consistently identify the culprit as AWCC Background server.Somehow, I believe through Windows Updates, this thing finds its way back on my PC.

I am not sure what it does or if it's in relation to any software because I don't have any software for this particular monitor. I associate it with my monitor because when I search the process in Google, I get all these Alienware website responses so I am assuming it comes from a driver or software through Windows Updates. I don't have an Alienware PC, it's a home build.

How can I disable this process and delete it, or what is the right way to stop it from interfering with my screen saver and hibernation?

Thanks!

If it's an Alienware monitor it will insist to use/install AWCC to access certain functions of the monitor configuration.

In my opinion, it's totally not needed as the monitor OSD normally will provide the functionality.

You are not the only one with this issue. In my opinion, the best option is to use a Microsoft application to hide windows updates. It's called wushowhide: wushowhide

Download it from Microsoft website, uninstall AWCC, run it, hide driver update for your monitor.

This way it will stop reinstalling AWCC for your monitor as an "update".

Thank you so much.  Shortly after I posted this, I did go through Programs & Features, and noticed I did in fact have that Alienware software installed.  I uninstalled it and it removed the background process from my PC as well.

I wouldn't mind having that Alienware software on my PC, but not if it is preventing my sleep and hibernation settings from kicking in.  I don't understand that.  In any case, I will follow your steps to install wushowhide and make sure to hide that driver update.  Thank you for your help.
