AW3225QF, G-Sync gray flicker

Even with the latest firmware and 4090 drivers I am experiencing severe flickering with gray colors on my AW3225QF whenever using G-Sync. I have tried every combination of cables (DP 1.4 & HDMI 2.1), refresh rates, with/without fps caps, etc. but no success. It doesn't seem to happen (or at least isn't noticeable) with bright scenes, but if there is a lot of gray, such as in Alan Wake 2 or the new Banishers game the flickering is quite severe. It seems to be happening due to the refresh rate of the panel thrashing around even with a basically locked FPS (such as capping to 60 or 120). This happens with both SDR and HDR content. Is this is a known issue? Does anyone else have this happen or is it simply a defective monitor?

iPhone camera does a good job of capturing it, no flickering at all in Infinite Wealth so its not a shutter problem exacerbating the flickering

This is interesting because I own the AW2725DF which is *not* certified by NVIDIA as G-SYNC compatible but bought the monitor on the assumption that it would work fine as I knew that the AW3225QF, which uses the same QD-OLED panel, was certified as G-SYNC compatible.

However, after using the monitor for over two weeks now since I received it on 8th February 2024, I have experienced a lot of noticeable flickering with G-SYNC enabled for my RTX 4080 Founders Edition when using the monitor at 360 Hz (and, in fact, all refresh rates down to 60 Hz). It isn't always visible or obvious in every game but I have seen it mostly in games with dark grey loading screens and even in a few games themselves that have dark settings and/or very variable framerates. I even see this flickering on the desktop wallpaper and it becomes more pronounced if the taskbar becomes visible or I open a window on the desktop.

Very few professional reviews of either the AW2725DF or AW3225QF mention VRR at all, nevermind state whether it flickers or not when enabled, which I find odd considering both the 32" and 27" monitors are gaming displays. Since both are so new, it is hard to find feedback on this issue but I was beginning to wonder if the AW2725DF was not certified because it had flickering. I mean otherwise why would one monitor be certified and not the other?

Now I find that the AW3225QF also has this same issue yet this is certified by NVIDIA as G-SYNC compatible! So what does this certification actually mean if it doesn't guarantee that the display does not flicker when using VRR? I was hoping that NVIDIA would eventually certify this monitor via a future graphics driver update and that the VRR flicker would be fixed. Sounds to me like that may not actually fix anything at all...

I have seen VRR flickering at 120 Hz on my PS5 while gaming on my 2019 LG B9 OLED TV but I am sat much further away from that screen than my monitor so it is just a minor issue. However, flickering on a monitor that you sit in front of is pretty much hard not to notice and it is by far the most disappointing thing about an otherwise superb display.

Just got this monitor, updated firmware, update 4080 super drivers and the VRR flicker when using DP is horrendous. I switch to hdmi 2.1 and cant choose any hz above 60. idk what is going on with this thing.

I have the same problem. As soon as GSync and HDR are switched on, the monitor gets brighter and darker impulsively in dark scenes. Regardless of whether it is set to 60 Hz or 240 Hz. Even changing the cable has not helped. I installed an older driver and it got a little better. I hope that Dell / Nvidia gets this catastrophic error under control quickly. I'm not buying a 1K OLED so that I have to switch off Gsync! That doesn't work at all!
Also, under the Nvidia settings - change resolution - the box "customize" is greyed out and cannot be clicked. Is there a solution for this?
I was able to solve the problem that the computer only starts at 120 HZ after a reboot by connecting my second monitor to HDMI.
But that can't be Dell's claim to deliver a high-end monitor with such errors....

I just got my new AW2725DF yesterday and had bought Alan Wake 2 to test it out. With HDR/VRR on the game flickers like crazy.

I've spent probably an hour trying all the settings in game to stop it from flickering. It is running the most up to date firmware.

I will try without VRR for now and see if that solves the flickering.

Very frustrating on such an expensive monitor.

Same problem. I hope Dell fix this in an update soon.

Same for me. The only solution i've found is to turn off hardware acceleration (HAGS) from windows and it is fine, with gsync using display port. Of course you can't use the frame generation...

I'm using windows 11 and an RTX 4090, if this could help you
