AW3423DW, 1.02, getting pixel refresh, cumulating 4 hours even when off
Hello,
So the problem is, and I might be wrong since I only had it for around a month and a half or so. I'm getting pixel refresh prompts after I turn the monitor back on no matter if I already did one right before I turned it off. I'll put some scenarios lower in the post so you can get what I mean.
Normal behavior as far as I understood is :
1) Use it for 4 hours - get prompt - proceed, wait 7 mins, then turn it back on.
2) Use it for 2 hours, turn it off - do whatever for as much time as it takes, downtime if you want - turn it back on, use for 2 more hours, then get prompt and proceed
However abnormal behavior (what I'm getting now) is :
1) Use it for 4 hours, do a pixel refresh - 7 mins, then don't turn back on
a) if I don't use it for 4+ hours after the pixel refresh, as soon as I turn it on I get pixel refresh prompt again, as if it's counting hours while being shutdown
a) Turn it on, use for 30 minutes, turn off (for 3hours 30 mins + ) , turn on again and get prompt, again as if it's calculating the hours it's been off (shutdown from button even - however pc still running, not standby ).
- eco mode is on
I'd expect that behavior if for example it would be in standby, or whatever, but not completely shut down from the button.
Any ideas? Faulty unit? etc? I rather not have to replace it already.
Cheer

The pixel refresh message will come on every 4 hours of actual use.
You can choose to perform it right at that time, upon which the monitor will power down when the refresh has finished.
You can also select to have it performed as soon as the monitor is in standby mode.
I believe with the latest firmware they added a third option to the menu, which is to always perform it after 4 hours when the monitor is in standby mode and never ask again.
What version of firmware do you have on your monitor?

1.02 firmware, i mentioned in the title.
My problem is, it's counting the time (minutes/hours) that i shut it off from the power button (the pc is still on though) as "on" time. So like i said, i can have it on 1hr after i did the pixel refresh, then 3 hours have it off while i'm doing other stuff around the house, then when i come back and turn it on (From the button) instead of having only 1hr as "ON" it gives me another pixel refresh prompt.

Do you have the message set to off?
If so, see page 56 of the manual: Manual
: If Auto Warning Message is set to Off
and the accumulated usage time exceeds 4 hours,
Pixel Refresh will be activated automatically
when you press the power button of the monitor
or the monitor goes into Standby mode.
Most people do not power off their monitor each time, instead they leave it on and have it go into standby mode. Likely a firmware bug if it counts the powered off time as time on.

No, message is ON.
Seems to be working fine once i turned on and let it go to "standby" after few mins in windows + not shutting it down from the button itself anymore. Weird. So standby works, but shutting down doesn't and makes it count time towards that 4hr timer.
I'm used to turning off all my oled displays ( tvs ) every time i go do something else, even if it's just for 2-3 mins. Or at least "screen off" mode. Been super paranoid bout burnin ever since i got my first oled TV. Never had any so guess it worked
O well. Thanks !

This monitor has a special 3 year premium warranty, including burn-in. So should it burn in over the next 3 years you should have nothing to worry about.
I have the DWF version of this monitor and use it all day long, never power it down, and I have zero burn in issues. There's also pixel shift to combat burn in and it seems to be doing it's thing.
PREMIUM PANEL GUARANTEE
The Dell Premium Panel Exchange allows a free panel replacement during the Limited Hardware Warranty period, even if only one bright pixel is found.
