AW3423DWF, console mode on and tone mapping on with HDR?

Hi,

I have 106 firmware. What about those 2 options? For best HDR experience both should be ON? I can see that game gets little brighter with ON but i do not know if it should be like this.

Thank You.

Console mode is for compatibility with consoles in terms of screen resolution, as the monitor is UW 1440P while consoles are often 4K.

Tone mapping is where the device maps the HDR tone colors, as opposed to the software mapping them.

Rtings still recommend to use it in HDR as it is better in target of ET something... i can see that when i turn on mapping to ON shadows are more black... without console ON colors is like washed out a little... i think i will use it anyway as it looks better for me.

Is this on PC with the latest firmware and Display Port do you recommend it being switched on?

When I turn it on Tone Mapping is greyed out.

I can turn on Console Mode but my 6800XT will not allow me to turn on Source Tone Map. I have tried everything from setting a custom resolution, enabling and disabling 10 bit color, and updating firmware. It won't work for me. Some games like FFXIV, Dragon Age Inquisition and a few other older games when Windows starts the Auto HDR function in the game, the colors looks washed out or dull. I have found Reddit posts of other experiencing this on AMD cards but no solution.
