AWCC service background & unable to save FX settings

I have a few things going on that just started I think after getting a monitor. I got the AW3420DW about a week ago so here’s what is happening.

1. AWCC.background.service at start up is I guess trying to find something in my FX setting because in task manager it’s like very high and cpu jacks up to 4.8 ghz. But when I open up AWCC and click on FX it goes down to idle 3.2ish ghz” normal”

2. I am unable to save any of my FX Lighting settings on all my AW devices, keyboard, R9 and monitor. I can set the light settings on all but when I hit save profile it does give me a confirm settings save like usual.

I did do a search about the AWCC background issue but nothing really worked. I also downloaded the new monitor drivers and there was a command center download I did also but no luck, as after a restart I still get the very high cpu issue in task manger and unable to save fx profiles.

Hard to see from the picture, but I think that is loaded as a service.

It's possible one or more dependencies are missing, or the service is restarting due to an error, or it is missing another service.

Is there anything in the event log listed for errors?

First time I ever been in the Event Log yikes. The only thing I see that says error is “Event ID 1000 “ Source - Application Error.

I have own Dell Computers for over 20 years and this being my first Alienware I have honestly never called for Support, never had too. I may have to now so I can take care of this issue as I am handing this R9 to my wife for her home work situation. I have the R11 coming in April. I just want this issue gone.

Thanks for any advice.

The thing you could try to do is uninstall AWCC, restart the computer, download the latest version of AWCC, and reinstall it.

That sometimes fixes oddball errors like that.

I think the background service using resources and the issue with FX not syncing with your peripherals is related.

Did you know that the AW mouse/keyboard have their own drivers that are used to ensure full compatibility with FX?

Perhaps check that you have the peripheral AW drivers installed too.

Example:  https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/alienware-pro-gaming-keyboard-aw768/drivers

Yes I have the Aw510H and the AW510K and now the AW3420DW in AWCC FX. This all started when I add the new Monitor, it was plug and play but I did download the supposedly new drivers for because after download windows said the drivers was successfully installed. If go to task manager/monitor and do an update driver it says Monitor drivers are up to date. So .... I may have to reinstall AWCC which I hate doing.

Thanks

Correction- if I went to Device Manager.

I'm just throwing this out there.  My problem with AWCC was nothing like yours (just a white screen).  What fixed mine was doing a power drain:  pull all cables including power, hold Alien power button down for 30 seconds.  Plug cables back in and restart.

Again, it's just something to try.  Hope you get results
