Delete button on keyboard working, but not deleting

Got a problem that I just cant figure out.  I think I might have done something possibly the other day when cleaning the computer keyboard.

I have an Aurora R7,, only had it about 6 weeks and its been great.  Now tho whenever I select  an icon or anything on the desktop or a file in My Docs and attempt to delete it via the DEL button on the keyboard it wont delete,, instead I just get an audible tone.

However when I press shift and DEL button,, it works,,, so to if I press CTRL ALT+DEL to get into Task Mgr.

Also to note ,,, the problem only seems to be on my account.  On my wife account no problem.

When I asked Alienware Support on Twitter they suggested it was an OS issue and suggested re-installing the whole windows OS.  To me that seems a little extreme,, esp as a first option.

Anyone got any ideas?

Yeah, that's weird. :Smile:

First, I would connect a different (fairly plain) USB-keyboard to the back of the Aurora-R7 ... see if the problem follows the keyboard or the computer.

Wish I could ,, but I threw out the old one when I got my new system :(  Would have thought anyway if it was the keyboard then it would be the same on the other user profiles but they are fine.

I just installed a large April Windows update tonight and was hoping that might have cleared it up but no such luck.

Stumped ,, ,guess I will just have to give tech support a call but I am not reinstalling the whole operating system.

Hmm, I didn't think it would be that hard for some one who uses Windows computers to try a different keyboard. :TongueTied:

I guess you can try the Windows-10 On-Screen keyboard.

It's because the Scroll lock is locked. Try pressing on your keyboard the scroll lock key above the home key and next to the print screen key

@Monchox

The original post was from 3 years ago I'm thinking he fixed it, or replaced the keyboard or found a fix, etc by now.
