RTX 3090 and New World Beta

Just a word of caution that the beta game New World from Amazon Game Studios seems to be putting extreme stress on video cards, and bricking mostly RTX 3090 cards. The game just opened up yesterday as an open beta.

While this is not officially acknowledged and could be "coincidence", there's a lot of users reporting bricked RTX cards due to playing this game, who had no issues in other games.

I would suggest if you run an RTX card and play this game, to keep a close eye on GPU usage and temperatures and shut it down if you see high temperatures.

I play this game myself and have a second monitor I use just for monitoring temperatures on my RTX 3080, and it seems ok for me.

Supposedly limiting FPS helps.  Or, maybe better to say, the reported bricked cards the users didn't include a limit in the settings.

But that would still be a hard pass for me, even with a lower end EVGA card. Especially since this issue seems specific to EVGA.

His theory about the power delivery pigtails for the third power connector on those boards is interesting. Again another reason to be careful with pigtails, if he is correct. He does have a point with the power delivery per connector and why a pigtail on that is a bad bad idea.
