using EVGA Supernova PCIe cable for Thermaltake psu
cables of modular psu of different brands are often incompatible because of different pinout.
I got a thermaltake 850w psu (semi-modular) that is missing modular PCIe cables.
I have an EVGA supernova psu with spare modular PCIe cables. I found the pinout of the two psu on moddiy.com. clearly the pinout are different. but it seems I can still plug the EVGA cable in the thermaltake psu and get correct +12V and Gnd voltage on the 6 and 8 pins of PCIe on gpu side based on pinout diagram?

If you are asking can you do it, my answer would be no. That is asking for trouble. This web page at Leon's site has more information. I have seen and heard of some users that tried it with less than desirable results. It is not worth risking the MB to save a few dollars.

It's not just a matter of pin outs, it's also a matter of the rails. Individual rails or single rail. I would just order the correct replacement cable rather than trying to modify another brand cable.
It's not worth risking your equipment for, and pending how the PSU internally is wired it could even pose a fire hazard.
