X51 R2, RAM upgrade question

Is this correct or can I get more than this?

Hi,
Yes, that is correct. It has two internally-accessible DDR3 DIMM sockets. The supported memory speed is 1600 MHz. The configurations supported are 4 GB, 6 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB (Maximum).

thank you for this
so as long as I get 2 x 8gb at 1600MHZ they will be recognised?
anything other than 1600mhz won't work?

Yes, as long as it meets those specifications, it should work.

Hey, this thread is old but I was wondering if a Corsair Vengeance 2x8gb DDR4 3200MHz set of RAM work for the Alienware x51 r2

No, ddr3 and ddr4 use different sockets. It isn't even physically compatible.
