Alienware 14 touchpad backlight won't turn on

I recently received a refurbished Alienware 14, and so far it has run well except since turning it on for the first time I've noticed one issue. The backlight on the touchpad (zone 8) will not come on no matter what I've tried. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Alien Command Center, tried turning the back lights on and off, went into bios to see if changing the touchpad setting would fix it. I'm running out of ideas. I know a lot of people complain about the touchpad light, but I like the feature and I'd like to have it on my laptop, especially right now while I try to find a mouse to go with the laptop that I like. I do want to add that the touchpad functions just fine, just no light at all. Really hope I can get some help on this that I can do on my own so I don't either have to send in the laptop or return it.
