Alienware 15 headphone jack messed up

So I got an Alienware 15 Tuesday and decided to try out some headphones on it last night.  The primary headphone jack (the one with the headphone logo on it) is completely messed up - performing the stereo tests on it I get audio on both sides of the headphones even when only one side is sending sound, and voices during songs/speaking are basically completely repressed and impossible to hear.  It's extremely weird.  If I configure the mic jack for headphones then all of the audio is normal.  I'm not sure if there is some odd driver issue or configuration setting going on with the main headphone jack, or if it is defective.  If it is defective that would be extremely disappointing...

Hi,

Try to reinstall the audio driver. Click here for the download link. Also make sure your system has the latest Bios installed. Click here for the Bios download link. Check in playback devices and make sure your headphones are being recognized. Let us know how it goes.

Called tech support and the motherboard is defective right out of the box.  Unbelievable.
