How did you realize that it isn't working on games? Is the machine reaching high temperatures in the GPU? Have you checked those recently?

because when i play dota 2 i can never feel the air from the gpu fan , but today when i played overwatch the temp's were 74-75 i felt just a little bit of air coming out of the fan i remember when bought the laptop in 2014 the fan was kicking so much that i would feel the air 1m away but now i can barely feel it and btw the laptop has 880m have u guys configured the gpu fan to run too low with this gpu or what ?

I'm also interested in an answer to this question, since I seem to have the same problem. I have an Alienware 17 that I bought in 2013. On startup both fans work for a few seconds and then the GPU fan stops. It does not start when I try to stress the GPU and I can't force it to start spinning using HWinfo64, only the CPU fan responds to that.
In my case this does not result is a heat buildup, but a *** overall performance. Somehow while the GPU (GeForce GTX 765M) claims to be working 100%, the fps during games is only about 1/3 of what it used to be and the temperature stays around 50C without the fan spinning (it claims to actually be using the GeForce card, not the integrated graphics card). Anyone got any ideas? Maybe something got broken in the last driver updates?

Try a different video driver in this case. Also, make sure you all have the latest BIOS available.
