Alienware 18" Won't Power On
Hey there,
I'm having huge issues with my alienware 18. While playing a game on it a couple of weeks ago, it just shut off and wouldn't turn back on. After taking off the back, I noticed the battery was crazy hot. Like super, super hot. I took it out and left the computer off for 12 hours. Then I did the reset thing (hold power button), then put the battery back in and power cord back in. Turned on, then back off again. No noise. Just wouldn't post.
Bought a new battery for it. Put the new battery in three days later when it arrived. Computer went all the way in to Windows 7. After 5 minutes it shut down completely. Started it back up but this time started to run an alienware diagnostic on it to find out the problem. IT shut off in the middle of the diagnostic. Now when I press on, it doesn't even power on at all. The light isn't on anymore on the on button.
I plugged the AC adapter in to my other alienware to see if it was the adapter but it's working fine. I am kind of at my wit's end with this. I unplugged EVERYTHING that had a plug inside of it after that, cleaned out the fans by hand, put everything back, double checked connections. Still won't power on at all.
What the actual?

Can you check if the light on the AC Adapter will stay on when it's plug into the system?

The light stays green on the AC adapter and on.

What does it mean if you plug the AC Adapter into your laptop and the light goes off on the adapter? My system lost power and I believe it is the motherboard. I removed the battery and plugged the laptop into multiple outlets and the green light on the adapter goes out every time. I also unplugged the CMOS battery and let the laptop sit for a day. I depressed the power button for 30 seconds to drain any power that was left in the system before attempting any troubleshooting steps.
I also live in Thailand and I'm not able to troubleshoot with a multimeter since it is a little hard to get help here.
The battery was fully charged when the laptop went dead.
Could someone verify my conclusions or give me additional troubleshooting steps to confirm? I want to order a refurbished MB but would appreciate a confirmation before I order it and any help with new MB specifics would be greatly appreciated.
