Alienware M14x - Keeps turning on and off repeatedly

I haven't used my laptop in a while but last time I used it, it was perfectly fine.

However, upon start up today, it first froze at the Alienware startup logo then ended up turning off. When I attempted to power it back on, the lights and fans would turn on but the screen would turn black. Then after a second or two, it would power down. However, it would turn back on immediately without pushing the power button and the whole situation would repeat again. This doesn't stop until I manually hold down the power button for an extended time. There is no difference whether it is plugged into the adapter or not.

What can I do to fix the laptop or at least get it to start up completely?
