Alienware X51 audio jack noise/static

I would recommend that you update your audio and video drivers.

Uninstall audio driver through the control panel under programs and features and for the video driver try to get the latest version from the nVidia website.

oh forgot, x51 came with the gtx 555 (oem version i believe) can i still use nvidia drivers? or it must be dell drivers from dell.com?

i will try to upgrade the video drivers when i get home tonight.

i have only upgraded the realtek hd audio driver lastnight to what ever the latest on dell.com

You can try the one from nVidia and if it doesn't work use the driver from Dell's website. Make sure when you are installing the driver select the custom installation and then check mark the little boxes that say Update Driver and clean installation.

Sad to report that with  the upgrade of both hd 4000 and gtx 555 drivers, the problem still persists. :(

another report after a few restarts with the new drivers. the noise has reduce about 90-95%, so im happy with that.

im able to use the computer with almost complete silence from the speakers :)

never mind this static noise comes and go....it is better when i play league of legend, but still pretty bad playing diablo 3.

atleast when im not playing games it is alot better.

What are you using speakers, headphones? Did you try different devices?

that is exactly what i have right now, an optional speakers that attaches to the gateway 24 monitors (they came in pair when i bought it). the speakers connected to the monitor via those 2 short black wires on the right (usb wire and power wire)....then green and pink plugs are connected to the X51. i have used this set on many other Dell desktops, and it does not produce statics.  so i have no idea why it does with this X51

i have tried standalone desktop speakers that are not connected to the monitor what so ever, and it does not produce static like the configuration above.

Then may be some type of issue with the connection or the system will not support it. If the audio is normal with regular speakers I doubt will be an issue with the computer.

do you have any other suggestions?

is it getting pretty annoying, and using standalone speakers isn't an option for me.

recently i also bought an XPS 8500, hooked it up, and everything is fine. no problem here. i used an older XPS 630I, had no problems also.

Check that the monitor and computer are connected to a grounded AC outlet.

rearranging the wires also didn't help, because people say statics produce if an audio wire is close to any type of running current.

the weird thing about this is that, the static noise isn't on all the time.

lets say im just using the computer for browsing the internet and doing stuff on the desktop. it only makes the noise when im scrolling pages up and down. closing windows. watching some videos on youtube.

and when im gaming.

the noise is pretty bad only when im actually in game. not when im in the main menu or selecting characters.

so the trend seems like when the CPU is underload or go over a certain percentage of load.

and of course i have that cpu fan that makes that high pitch noise that everyone is experiencing from the other post with the delta fan.

Can you try the jack ports on the front of the computer.

front audio had the same problem.
