I've been reading a lot of delays on this forum and was worried about my system being delayed. I went ahead and ordered my Auror on 02/04. I was given an estimated ship date of 02/26.  My system was shipped on 02/19 and will arrive to me on 02/25.  I guess I'm one of the luckier ones that will get it in time.

When I ordered my system I made sure not to configure parts that will delay the order.  I wanted the GTX295 and the media readers, but opt not to.
I sold my system and can't risk this system to delay too long and it's coming before the est ship date.

So the hardest part now is waiting on Fedex to get it to me.  I hope they don't screw up.

Take it from me and my current experience. DO NOT BUY from Dell. You will not receive your order until 2011, if that. And the months pass while you contact order support they will be rude to you and not care at all that you have a serious issue with the production time. I know Alienware was the bomb. But its dead now that DELL bought it.

My Dell Story; Order an 'Alienware Gaming System' which is suppose to be Dells company they just bought (which I wish they didnt cause they are RUINING one of the greatest companies). My Order Status goes from 'In Production' to 'In Transit (Shipping)' back to 'In Production' back to 'In Transit' and again to 'In Production' in a matter of two weeks. My estimated delivery dates goes from 10 days after I paid for it. To 23 days after I paid for it. To now 44 days after I paid for it. But thats not the BEST part of the story;

I call DELL, which is something I try not to do since all you get is rude non-english speaking reps, and the rep tells me this gem of goodness.

"Our website doesn't work properly. You're estimated delivery date is (the 44 day date) and not the ones before that, and in our system it has never changed."

So I ask him. "If your website doesn't work, then how do I determine when its being shipped, and what day?"

His response. "Our website works. Its the date that is on there now."

So I ask to talk to a supervisor, which basically in dells terms in a 'floor manager' who has a thicker accent and ruder attitude.

He says "Your order is on backorder because it is one of the highest demanded systems we have (Mind you this is a 3,500$ system) its delivery date has been changed twice because of that."

I respond "But you just told me it hasnt changed it all. If you're website doesnt work how do I know when to expect such an expensive piece of equipment on my doorstep."

His response "Our website works, the date never changed on there or in our system."

So basically he told me it did change, then told me I was a liar and it hasn't changed.

Moral of the story? I'm canceling my order tomorrow when offices open back up. And going with a new custom build. Sorry that Alienware was bought by Dell. Really ruined the company and image.

IF YOU WANT YOUR COMPUTER ON TIME, AND YOU WANT FRIENDLY CUSTOMER SERVICE, DO NOT BUY DELL.

21 days is still unacceptable. It should take no longer than maybe 10 from start to finish.

Jamietx, I agree...it takes too long, but I also understand the these system is build to spec.

Any custom will take more time then prebuilt.  It seems foreva...but I will see my system tomorrow.  Can't wait.

don't get the alx.  just some extra lights and some fins.  read an article that said the fins didn't do anything for internal temps, just for looks.  and yes it takes forever to get one.

I agree. The extra lights and fins are not worth it. Take the normal Aurora with the 875Watt powersupply. My Aurora is cool enough when playing MW2 and other games.
