Black Screens
hi I have a x51 that keeps getting black screens then the fan goes off I have my tv as a monitor a 555 video card it came with win 7 but installed win 8 don't know what to do ive tried everything ill probly go back to mac if it keeps up

Hi brain twist,
I will be glad to help you. Request you to answer the below questions:
(1) Are there any beep codes coming from the computer when the black screen appears?
(2) Are there any light on the power button when the black screen appears?
(3) Also let me know if the computer is getting hot.
You may also want to use the link below to find the manual and then open the top cover to just clean the air vents with a can of compressed air:

hi thanks for your help it seems to change its not hot now but as im clicking through emails its flickering black then back to screen now its stopped there are no beeps and it was getting hot before turnoff the light on the front stays on after blackout I have to hold it down to turn it of wait a few mins the restart error on start up is a file dup msg it came out with windows 7 worked ok since install of win 8 been having problems aso 555 video card not sure if that mite have something to do with this anyway im tired of this I bought an apple and going to sell this I formatted the hard drive and installed win 8 clean can I reinstall win 7 from site if hard drive is formatted thanks for your help

Request you to use the below link, input the system service tag, select operating system then download BIOS and video driver:

Also make sure that you clean the computer with a can of compressed air.
For going back to Windows 7 you will require a windows 7 disc as the partition is deleted.
