Can I move the top lighting strip on a Aurora R4 into a new case?

You can get a stock cooler or adapt the Dell version of Asetek cooler to connect like a stock Asetek cooler.

you might try Velcro, yes. However, the top light strip gets its power directly from the mio board, over that circled harness, with the specialty white micro-connector end. The top light strip, is, ummm, useless without the mio board. Got it?

That other guy Jimzaay, it is true I answered many qwestions he had - but in a private message - so his thread wasn't as full & complete for public view as I would have liked, but it contains the gist of the situation. 

Mio board is a fan/pump/lights/vent controller. You can deduce all its funxions from this photo

Do you know if the MIO board is simply installed with screws and would it be worth a try to velcro the lighting strip and MIO board to the wall of my new case, as a temporary solution. I would only be using the AW board for up to a year as I am looking to upgrade my Alienware parts throughout 2016 going into 17. Would Velcroing both the MIO and Top lighting strip be worth a try as a temporary solution, I'm thinking of the light strip above the motherboard and the MIO board around the wall of a lower HDD tray.  It doesn't seem like there should be any fault to it, does it seem reasonable? Thanks.

I believe I answered this same question with Jim: where the mio might get placed into a new case depends on the length of all associated wires. I personally transferred an Area 51 MIO into the dvd bay of an NZXT Phantom 820, but only as a test, & not all wire harness & related goodies transferred to my case. As far as being reasonable to place the light strip / mio into a new case, it depends why you want to place it in there for. If all you need is to re-use your Alien Kooler, again, I make adaptors. If you want more of 'Aurora's stuff' to go into new case, then it's reasonable, but where to place the strip/mio will depend on trial & error, something none of us has an answer for, given each case is unique. Did that answer it?

Firstly, I am incredibly sorry if this is covering old ground, but I just want to be sure I know what I'm doing before operating on my build. If I was to buy an adapter from you, there would be no need for the MIO board and Lighting strip in my new case, but instead of being connected to a 7 pin in the lightning strip it will be connecting directly into the motherboard with a 3 pin adapter.

Also is there any power/performance differences with a mod to the cable or will it work exactly as it did being connected to the lighting strip.  

Finally, would buying the 3 pins and the connector off a site like eBay, do exactly the same job as the adaptor, but without any tampering from me?

Again sorry, I know I'm probably going over old ground and asking very obvious questions. But I want to know what I'm doing and the issues I'm faced with before I try and move the parts into the new case. This will be the first time I have every upgraded or changed any parts in my build and I don't want to mess it up.

Per adaptor, I can make anything, any connecting scheme. I discussed how in the absence of the top strip & mio, the rad-fan needs to occupy the solo cpu_fan header, therefore placing a 3pin fan connect onto that kooler isn't enough, it would have no where to plug in at on the mthrbrd, therefore a different scheme needs to be used, most likely a 4pin molex male end in order to tap off of the power supply molex female (for constant 12v/ground), issues I can freely discuss in a PM. You can of course source your own parts (eBay/FrozenCpu.com etc) & do-it-yourself. The wiring for the 7pin has been posted & linked to. There is no performance hit that needs to be addressed.

Buying the 3pin fan parts off eBay, means you do tamper with it (snip off 7pin, apply new pins & connector), but again, the rad-fan needs a place to plug in at, so you have to think about a PlanB, like a molex 4pin male for instance if you plan to do it yourself.
